Alternative tourist cityby Lara Salinas
Tourist map that highlight areas that are less frequented by visitors or that the user has not visited yet.
As part of my PhD research at Lancaster University. At The Creative Exchange we are developing an mobile app that highlights areas that are less frequented by users or that the user has not visited yet. The app is a map that adapts according to how visitors move through the city, using their traces to change the emphasis on the map.
The data collected though OpenPaths will be used to establish a baseline of visitors patterns.
No personal information will be stored. The data will be securely stored in an encrypted computer, according to Lancaster University Ethical Guidelines for Research.
This project is being conducted as part of The Creative Exchange. The project aims at creating a free mobile application and research outcomes such as academic papers or conference presentations.
Updates of the research will be published in www.thecreativeexchange.org and www.larasalinas.com
