Visualize Our Community

by Personal

What do the lives of the entire Open Paths community look like?

Foursquare has visualized checkins across cities (https://foursquare.com/infographics/pulse) and Twitter has visualized super bowl tweets around the world (http://blog.cartodb.com/post/75598311828/superbowl-visualization-makes-use-of-many-powerful).

I first installed Open Paths after watching Jer Thorp's TED talk in Feb 2012. Like the rest of you, it has been passively tracking my location since and I have visualized my data a handful of times (http://blog.milesgrimshaw.com/2013/12/28/where-was-miles-in-2013/).

But, I would really like to know what the entire Open Paths community data looks like. For everyone that grants access, I will pull our data into CartoDB and visualize all our movement over time.

The data will be visualized online but not made accessible to anyone else.

This will be an artwork posted online that anyone can see. I will share all the steps used to make the visualization, so there is full transparency.
